«WELL-BEING» AND «PROSPERITY»: A TRANSDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

The relevance of the research is caused by the huge attention devoted in the modern economy to such basic concepts as «well-being» and «prosperity», which are considered as the key factors of the socio-cultural phenomenon of the modern market. The aim of the work is to study the true definition of these concepts in terms of a transdisciplinary value-semantic approach, as well as to make an attempt to adapt the ideas suggested by the author to modern realities. Methods: analytical and comparative research methods owing to which it was possible to use effectively the interdisciplinary approach in the study of «well-being» and «prosperity» definitions. Results. The necessity of using the interdisciplinary approach in interpretation of the stated concepts is justified. The paper introduces the data from a comprehensive study of the student target audience. The problems arising in clarification of the true meaning of both similarities and differences of these definitions are highlighted. The perception degree of these definitions by respondents is determined through the use of a methodology developed by the authors. On the basis of the data obtained, a conclusion is made concerning the component formula for human happiness as a system, in which all the favourable conditions are created to strike the right balance between the marginal costs and the marginal benefits of both «well-being» and «prosperity».
