Digital transformation of modern educational space: pros and cons
This article is devoted to the challenges, prospects for use, and risks associated with the digitalization of higher education, including engineering education. Relevance. The use of digital tools in all areas of our lives, including education. The future of higher education is being shaped by the influence of digital technologies, providing students and teachers with new opportunities. The emerging flexibility of the educational process, based on digitalization, along with innovative technologies, adaptive educational platforms, and improved assessment systems, forms the foundation for the global modernization of education as a whole. Aim. To demonstrate how digitalization has made it possible to effectively use various tools thanks to which there is an opportunity to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge by students and minimize risks while reducing the planning horizons. Methods. When designing next‐generation educational programs, it is suggested to incorporate data analytics, business model development, digital information and knowledge management, digital interaction, and digital interactivity into the curriculum, while not devaluing traditional learning. Currently, higher education institutions are the main stakeholders in the stakeholder matrix when preparing future specialists. Accordingly, the mechanisms for managing digitalization in higher education will largely depend on the strategic goals of the country's socio‐economic development. Results. The article presents forms of digitalization of the educational process, provides examples of specific digital tools, and offers suggestions for their use by both students and teachers. The analysis of the pros and cons of digital transformation showed that the advantage of digitalization in the 21st century education is that it combines both traditional methodologies and online learning methods, which go hand in hand as complementary systems.
