Social aspects of decentralized finance and features of DeFi investors
The article discusses the causes, factors, and prospects for the spread of decentralized finance as a new social model for organizing the financial system. Aim. To identify the specifics of decentralized investment and its social features and consequences based on the characteristics of the DeFi model. Methods. Methods of analyzing the definitions of decentralized finance, the results of practitioners, and their generalization. Results. It has been proven that the main factor in the development of decentralized finance is the investor's need for independent and self-organized investment. This need, coupled with the advancement of digital technologies, led to the emergence of decentralized finance, which eliminates the need for intermediaries and government regulation. The motivation of households to gain control over their financial assets, the increase in financial inclusion through the development of digital technologies, and the emergence of new risks contributed to the importance of social evaluation of DeFi. The social nature of the emergence and development of DeFi led to its classification as a quasi-segment of the financial system that focuses on speculative roles. This allowed us to determine the characteristics of a DeFi investor's profile in terms of the nature of their income and risks. It was concluded that the experience of DeFi investment shows the potential for integrating centralized and decentralized finance. This allows us to identify measures to encourage investor participation in the movement of financial resources by integrating decentralized and centralized finance in place of or in addition to speculation in the decentralized quasi-segment. It is also possible to create a mechanism to protect the interests of DeFi investors. The results obtained can be used for theoretical analysis and methodological development of programs and algorithms for the evolution of the financial system on a new technological and social basis.
