THE CONCEPT OF TERRORISM AS A SPECIFIC SOCIO-CULTURAL PHENOMENON

Relevance. The growth of the scale of terrorist manifestations at the beginning of the XXI century becomes a characteristic feature of the modern era. Today, the philosophical-culturological, cultural-anthropological and religious studies space of the phenomenon of terrorism has not been sufficiently studied. Its research in these aspects will help in the future, using the tools of cultural influence on the consciousness of the general population in the field of anti-terror, to successfully overcome this dangerous social phenomenon. The purpose of the article is to present the results of the study of terrorism as a specific sociocultural phenomenon. Methods: comprehensive analysis, comparative historical analysis, historical and cultural approach. It was established that terrorism is a phenomenon of public life. It must be considered as a product of two principles, equal in nature – social and cultural. In this case, it will act as a specific sociocultural phenomenon. It was revealed that the action of terrorism occurs not only from another territorial space, but also from another cultural and historical time or event. As a result of combining the two most important prerequisites – social and cultural, we get the emergence of terrorism in society as a specific socio-cultural phenomenon. Conclusion. Terrorism in the modern world is a global challenge to human civilization from another world – a destructive socio-cultural one. Culture in its historical incarnation exists in a specific cultural and civilizational time and is personified in anthropological concreteness. A postmodern person who has lost the sacral-symbolic shell produces its replacement – a bluff, a phenomenon that introduces abnormal, unnatural forms. One of them is terrorism. The practical activities of the majority of society to overcome the manifestations of terrorism must be carried out aggressively, introducing into the minds of people the images of culture that are opposite to terrorism.
